Back when black metal was still dangerous and cloaked in mystery, split releases were more than just compilations — they were statements of allegiance. With Hordagaard / Mork / Dauden / Drudensang, we get a modern version of that old spirit: four bands from the true underground, joining forces across borders to deliver a record that drips with icy wrath and raw devotion.
Representing the Norwegian front, we’ve got:
-
Hordagaard – fierce and frostbitten, known for keeping the early 2000s underground fire burning;
-
Mork – already infamous for their dedication to mid-paced, atmospheric necro-worship in the style of Darkthrone and Burzum;
-
Dauden – colder, darker, more cavernous; they bring that deep abyss energy that swallows the light whole.
Then comes Drudensang, from Bavaria, Germany — a younger project that delivers raw, folkloric black metal steeped in ancestral shadows and haunting melodies. It’s a perfect contrast to the Norwegians — still raw, still feral, but with a unique regional twist that sets them apart while holding their own.
What ties it all together? The lo-fi production, the grim atmosphere, the relentless black metal spirit that spits in the face of modern polish. Whether it’s Hordagaard’s relentless blasting, Mork’s icy groove, Dauden’s howling abyss, or Drudensang’s folkloric ritualism, this split delivers on every front — and does so with zero compromise.
This is the limited edition CD version released by Dominance of Darkness Records (DoD-008) — a label known for keeping the Saarland and wider underground black metal scene alive and frostbitten. No hype, no PR spin — just raw darkness for those who still worship the underground.
